How to Avoid Neck Pain While Working at a Computer

Work-from-home moms are no strangers to neck pain. Sitting in front of a computer all day can be uncomfortable, but there’s no denying the convenience and flexibility that comes with working remotely. Fortunately, with some simple posture tips and practices, moms can prevent neck pain when working on a computer. Let’s look at five ways to do that.

1. Use an ergonomic chair – The type of chair you use is important for avoiding neck pain. Chairs should have adjustable backrests and armrests so that you can find the most comfortable position for your body type. Investing in a good, ergonomic chair will go a long way towards preventing neck pain while you work from home.

2. Adjust your monitor height – Many people sit too low or too high when using their computers, which can cause neck strain and discomfort over time. To get the best results, your monitor should be around eye level when sitting in your chair, so adjust it accordingly if needed.


   3. Take regular breaks – If you work on a computer for hours at a time without taking breaks, it won’t take long before you start feeling soreness and tension in your neck and shoulders. Make sure to take regular breaks throughout the day to stretch out your muscles and give them time to rest before getting back to work again.


    4. Change positions often – Sitting in one position for too long can lead to muscle tightness and fatigue, so make sure to change up your position every now and then as well as taking regular breaks throughout the day. This could be anything from standing up for five minutes or doing some basic stretches next to your desk; just make sure you stay active enough that your muscles don’t become stiff from sitting in one spot all day long!
